The STEINWAY VIRTUAL PIANO COMPETITION - REGIONALS, open to young pianists ages 17 and under and held through STEINWAY'S Factory-owned showrooms within the U.S., is an extension of our unwavering commitment to the pursuit of superior artistic expression through piano performance during these unprecedented times.

Regional First Place Prizes
DIVISION I $200
DIVISION II $200
DIVISION III $500
DIVISION IV $750
First, second and third place winners for each region will receive a commemorative medal and certificate. First place winners will have the opportunity to record one of their winning pieces at their local Steinway showrooms' Recital Hall on a Steinway Concert Grand. The recording will be broadcast for an Honors Concert to be presented online. All participants will receive a certificate of participation, judges' comments, and a gift from Sheet Music Plus.

Requirements
Two contrasting pieces for solo piano from different eras of Western classical music, including Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th Century must be performed memorized. Original compositions and improvisations are not permitted. Repeats may be played at the discretion of the performer, but are not required.
DIVISION I: Ages 9 & Under (max. 8 minutes)
DIVISION II: Ages 10-12 (max. 10 minutes)
DIVISION III: Ages 13-15 (max. 12 minutes)
DIVISION IV: Ages 16-17 (max. 14 minutes)
Age requirements apply to applicant's age as of October 1, 2020.
Applicants must reside in the United States and based in one of the following regions: Tri-State Area (NY, CT, NJ), Miami, Chicago, Northern California, Southern California and Seattle. Only students living in these regions are allowed to apply. Some exclusions may apply. Please check the Acceptd page for your region to find out your eligibility to participate in this regional competition. For students not living in these territories, a competition will be available to you this fall.
