Dennis Edwards
Dennis Edwards has been playing Steinway & Sons pianos since the age of three. As an award- winning pianist-composer and former Production Coordinator for A&M Records in Hollywood, Dennis has collaborated with a wide variety of Grammy-winning artists in Orchestral Music, Jazz, and various Popular Music styles.
Originally discovered by National Public Radio “Piano Jazz” host Marian McPartland, Dennis has performed in venues around the globe, in addition to appearing on numerous television shows and radio broadcasts. He studied with notable pianists Barry Barnum, two-time Grammy winner Taylor Eigsti, California Jazz Conservatory founder Dr. Susan Muscarella, and legendary award-winning Jazz pianist-Film Score composer Denny Zeitlin.
Dennis achieved international prominence when he released his original orchestral recording of “September 11th, 2001 A Musical Memorial” which was broadcast nationwide over the American CBC National Radio Network on the first anniversary of 9/11. His popular “Jazz and the Great American Songbook” program presents American song classics, performed in live concerts featured on the NBC Universal Comcast TV networks. Additionally, he had the honor of playing and recording on the famous CD503 Steinway Concert Grand model “D”, which was the piano personally owned by maestro Vladimir Horowitz.
Dennis’ live performances always include stories, history and anecdotes about the composers whose music he plays. USA Today noted that “His performances and recordings reflect the warmth and humor in his personality.” Online Music said “Dennis exudes the technique of Oscar Peterson, the harmony of Bill Evans, and the imagination of Victor Borge!” NBC TV producer Chuck Barris said “His music score for the TV show really made the action come alive.” KALX Radio San Francisco described his concerts as “Artistic Fun.” With over twenty CDs recorded, Dennis continues to perform live solo piano and ensemble concerts, in addition to composing and recording a wide variety of musical styles exclusively on the Omega Records label.
